About Our Founder – Dean Lomas
Dean started in the automotive industry in 1996, and isn’t too far off 30 years motor vehicle and trade experience. He’s always loved fixing things – from a young age it seemed clear, he had the heart and mind of a mechanic.
He had something else too – a desire to do the best job possible.
A self-taught motoring maestro, he was awarded the National Modern Apprentice of the Year in 2001 for his dedication and hard work during his training.
After some years of employment, learning from the best in the business, he started his own company. He could choose his jobs, his working hours, and apply his own impeccable standards as he built a customer base.
Dean believes in delivering the highest quality work and creating fantastic customer relations. Why? He has a simple answer.
“Why do I run my business the way I do? Hard work just isn’t enough. The true reason is that I have to dig deep within my soul to become a better person every moment of every day.”

About Our Team
Everyone who works with Dean shares his values. It’s important to him that all his team are providing the same level of extraordinary service that he would himself.
The team attend frequent training courses, spending up to 15 days per year staying updated on the latest technology and engineering developments.
Dean never had a lot of time for school, always preferring the practical. He knows it’s important to have a chance to see how you can fit into the adult world, so he regularly works with educationally challenged kids from local schools.
He loves to give them the opportunity to understand real workplace experience with a taste of what it means to work in the motor trade – an idea of what they could achieve in life.
His team starts with two full time apprentices, who are being put through a full training package by DC Lomas. The aim is to ensure that they become part of the new wave of great, competent, confident, highly able technicians of the future.
At the other end of the experience range – Dean is now working with the guy that originally taught him most of what he knows! In other words, generations of experience give Cheshire EV a depth and breadth of knowledge to rely on.
Community Support
Cheshire EV shares in the community spirit of DC Lomas. Customers like patronising a local company that supports good causes in the area. In gratitude for your anticipated custom, we have pledged to donate £2,000 to a local hospice over the next year.
We’ll be working with partner business, DC Lomas in providing regular maintenance for a national events Ambulance support team, and sponsorship of our local under-12 football team.

Our 61725 Hybrid/EV Cabinet Comprehensive Kit from Laser Tools
When you’re working on the new breed of hybrid and battery driven vehicles, you’re in a high voltage environment. After all, a system that’s powerful enough to propel your car down the motorway at 70mph, wouldn’t have an issue throwing a careless mechanic across a workshop.
That’s why we bought our electric vehicle toolkit from the best – Laser Tools, near Coventry.
They sell a truly comprehensive kit designed to meet the specific needs of the hybrid and battery electric high voltage vehicle workshop like ours. It includes all necessary tools and safety equipment.
The kit comes with a complete set of insulated high voltage hand tools and test instruments designed for use on hybrid/EV vehicles.
It’s supplied in a heavy duty 7 drawer lockable tool cabinet with a 6 drawer top chest to keep tools organised and secure. The cabinet has 2 fixed and 2 swivel/brake wheels for easy maneuverability around the workshop. There are also customised external supports for storing safety barrier posts and bases, together with a bracket for the insulated rescue pole.
Here’s what we got:
- Comprehensive 100 piece hybrid/ EV insulated tool set VDE/GS & IEC60900 approved.
- Selection of high voltage test instruments probes & leads (IEC60900 for tools & CAT III/IV for insulation testing).
- Full set of workshop and vehicle safety equipment including barrier chain set, warning signs for walls and vehicles, safety rescue pole, vehicle lockout & warning tags, nylon padlocks & timer for shutdown procedures.
- Hybrid/EV specific personal safety equipment, arc flash face shield, insulated shrouding, cable-end shrouds, clamps & floor matting for 1000V safe working.
